What is Malaria: Malaria Symptoms Causes and Treatment

What is malaria

Overviews

Malaria is a very common disease in the world, malaria is life-threatening disease caused by a parasite. Malaria is typically transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito of the genus Anopheles. Anopheles mosquitoes carry the plasmodium parasite. When an affected mosquito bites you, parasites enter your body. Let's know more about what malaria is: symptoms, causes, and treatment.

What is Malaria

  •  Malaria means- Mal- "Bad." and     Aria-air.
  •  Malaria is Caused byPlasmodium parasites  female Anopheles mosquitoes. Life cycle of  an anopheles mosquito (female): 3 to 100 days and male—10 to 24 days.
  •  When an affected mosquito bites you, parasites enter your body and are transported by your blood to your liver, where they develop. The adult parasites enter the bloodstream and start infecting RBC after some days. The parasites inside the RBC grow within 48 to 72 hours, resulting infected cells rupture. The parasites continue to rupture red blood cells, and the symptoms come in cycles that last two to three days at a time.

Types of Malaria

There are five types of malaria

  • 1. Plasmodium falciparum
  • 2. Plasmodium knowlesi
  • 3. Plasmodium ovale
  • 4. Plasmodium vivax
  • 5. Plasmodium Malariae

What Causes malaria

Malaria in humans is caused when an infected mosquito carrying the Plasmodium parasite mosquito bites you.

  • Plasmodium falciparum: Plasmodium falciparum is a unicellular protozoans. This is the most dangerous and deadliest parasite out of the five. It is capable of causing three types of malaria fever: quotidian malaria (daily fever), malignant tertian (which occurs every 48 hours), and irregular malaria (which occurs only in severe cases). Plasmodium falciparum species are very common in many countries in Africa, especially in the Sahara Desert and tropical regions.
  • Plasmodium knowlesi: Plasmodium knowlesi is a parasite that causes malaria in humans and other primates. It is the fifth species of Plasmodium that causes malaria in humans and primates. Knowlesi fever's pattern is daily. Plasmodium knowlesi is common found in southeast Asia.

  • Plasmodium vivax: Plasmodium vivax is a protozoal and a human pathogen. Vivax fever is the pattern of benign tertian malaria, which attacks every third day after 48 hours.Plasmodium vivax is found in Latin America, Asia, and some parts of Africa.

  • Plasmodium ovale: Plasmodium ovale is a parasitic protozoon. fever pattern, which occurs every 48 hours,
  • Plasmodium ovale: is found in tropical western Africa and South America; in some cases, it is also seen rarely in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.
  • Plasmodium malariae: Plasmodium malariae is a parasitic protozoan that also causes malaria in humans. Fever pattern—Quartan malaria, which recurs every four days. i.e., 72 hours. Plasmodium malariae is found in Southeast Asia, South America, Saharan Africa, and the western Pacific.

In some cases malaria has also transmitted by blood,  used needles or syringes, organ transplant,  and transfusion.

What are the symptoms of malaria

Malaria sings, and symptoms usually come within 10 days to a few weeks after being bitten by an infected mosquito.

Symptoms and signs of malaria may include:

  •   High fever
  •   Cold shivers,  moderate to severe
  •   muscle and joint pain
  •   abdominal pain
  •   Bloody stool
  •   Diarrhea
  •   Rapid heart beat
  •   Cough and cold
  •   Headache
  •   Rapid breathing
  •   Nausea
  •   Vomiting
  •   Fatigue

Treatment of Malaria

Malaria can be treated with mosquito medicine.

  • Choroquine is the most common drug used in malaria.
  • other common antimalarial drugs, e.g., Doxycycline, Mefloquine, Tafenoquine (Arakoda TM), Primaquine, Atovaquone, or Proguanil (Malarone).

Natural treatment of malaria

  • Basil: Take 10 to 12 basil leaves with honey.
  • Giloy-heart-leaved moonseed (Tinospora cordifolia): Take two to three Giloy leaves with stems and grind them. Boil them in 500 ml of water. When there is 250 ml left, drink it.
  • Papaya: papaya juice is good in malaria

  • Papaya leaves: papaya is good for malaria; take two to three papaya leaves and grind them; boil them in 500 ml of water. When there is 250 ml left, drink it.
  • Aloe Vera: aloe Vera juice is good in malaria

  • Pomegranate: Pomegranate juice is good for malaria.

  • Take 5 black grapes raisins and 5 raisins and dry ginger powder, boil them in 500 ml of cow milk. when there is 250 ml left, drink it.

  • Grind 5 grams of ginger and onion and 5 grams of garlic, boil them in 500 ml of water. When there is 250 ml left, drink it.

Take natural treatment with allopathic medicine, natural treatment increases your recovery time and immunity power.

Prevention of malaria

  • Cover your skin: wear long pants and a full-sleeved shirt.
  • Insect killing machine: Use an insect killing machine when you are at home.
  • Apply mosquito:killing cream. Apply mosquito repellent cream on your skin.
  • Use mosquito net: Use mosquito net while sleeping.
  • Water logging: Do not allow dirty water to stagnate around your house.

What to eat in Malaria

  • Eat vitamin iron or fiber rich food like papaya, lemon, orange, kiwi, pomegranate and green vegetables.

Malaria Test

  • A drop of the patient's blood spread out as a "blood smear" on a microscope slide can be used to identify malaria parasites. The material is stained (most frequently with the Giemsa stain) before examination in order to give the parasites a unique appearance.

Malaria Vaccine

  • The World Health Organization approved the RTS,S vaccine, which is potentially an upgraded version of the new R21 vaccine, for widespread use in areas with high rates of malaria transmission last October. The first human parasite infection vaccine was RTS,S.
